My heat pump failed during that January cold snap and I learned my backup plan was garbage
The compressor went out at 2 AM last Tuesday when it was 8 degrees outside, and I spent the next 4 hours trying to find a space heater that wasn't sold out, has anyone else tested their emergency heating setup for real?

My 2019 propane heater I bought for $40 at a yard sale turned into a $400 mistake when I realized the tank was empty and the fill station was closed at 3 AM. I ended up running three extension cords from the neighbor's garage like some kind of apocalyptic electrician. Did you check if your backup was actually charged or fueled before the freeze hit?
