Spent $800 on solar panels for my garage last spring and it paid for itself in 8 months

My electric bill went down $100 a month after I hooked them up, plus I got a tax credit that covered a third of the cost. Has anyone else seen that kind of return on a smaller setup?

Man that inverter dying must have stung, sorry to hear it. Always frustrating when the gear fails right after you start seeing the savings kick in.

Hold up, 8 months seems way too quick, most smaller garage setups I've seen barely break even in two years. Gotta factor in panel degradation and inverter replacements that eat into those savings down the road. Plus if your power company changes their buyback rates that whole math falls apart real fast.

Took us 14 months to break even and then the inverter died, so that was fun.
