The solar panel install that turned into a roof leak disaster

Last July I finally put up 3 solar panels on my garage roof in Portland after watching youtube videos for months. First big rainstorm came and water was dripping right through the ceiling onto my workbench. Turns out I used the wrong flashing around the mounting brackets, didn't even know there was a specific kind for standing seam roofs. Has anyone else had their DIY green project backfire like this?

Did you use those cheap rubber grommets from Amazon too?

@jade517 My buddy Tom used those same gummy ones and had water running down his wall like a shower. He ended up tearing the whole panel off and paying a roofer twice what the install cost.

Yeah the cheap gummy ones are a total gamble. I used some on a skylight and had water dripping down my wall for a week before I realized what was happening.
