TIL my local farmers market switched to reusable container rules and it split the whole community

I live in Portland and last month our Saturday market banned single use bags and containers. Half the vendors love it, half say it slows down their lines and costs them money. Ive been bring my own jars for berries and it works fine but some people are mad. Which side are you on? Does this actually help or just make shopping harder for low income families?

I think the farmers market rule is just one tiny piece of a bigger puzzle where we're trying to balance being eco-friendly with keeping things affordable and accessible for everyone. Like, I get why people want less plastic, but not everyone has the time or money to buy special jars or remember to bring them every week. It feels like we're all being asked to do more and more stuff on our own, even when the system doesn't really help us out. Honestly, it's just another example of how the little rules pile up and make everyday errands feel like a hassle for regular folks.
