Appreciation post: The old timer at the Dayton tool show who showed me his trick

I was at the Dayton tool show last year, looking at a new collet set. This older guy next to me, who saw me checking the runout, just said 'kid, put a drop of oil on the threads before you seat it, not after.' He showed me on his own, decades-old set. I've done it his way for 6 months now and my finish passes are way smoother. Anyone else have a simple tip like that that just clicked?

Wait, isn't oil on collet threads a bad idea for holding power?

Oh, so a tiny drop really does work? I do the same thing as @brookebaker and haven't had a single tool slip.
