Dropped $200 on a used Haas tool probe and it paid for itself in a week
Was tired of edge finding every single part manually so I grabbed a used Renishaw probe off eBay for $200 and now I'm setting up jobs in half the time has anyone else had luck with used probing gear?

lol I saw a guy on Practical Machinist say he got a used probe for like $150 and it cut his setup time in half too. Seems like those Renishaw units are pretty durable if they're not smashed into a vise or something. $200 is a steal honestly, I've read about people paying $500+ for them on eBay and still calling it a good deal.

Ha "if they're not smashed into a vise" - story of my life right there. I swear half the used probes on eBay look like they got into a fight with a hammer and lost. $200 is a steal though, I'd rather gamble on a used one than drop a grand on new.

Check the battery contacts first, they corrode and cause all kinds of weird errors before the probe totally dies. A little DeoxIT can save you from buying another one.
