I finally visited that new CNC shop over on Industrial Blvd last week

Stopped by Precision Machining Solutions last Thursday just to see their setup. They had a Haas VF-4 running some crazy aluminum parts with a 5th axis trunnion. I watched their guy change tools in like 8 seconds flat with their automatic tool changer. Has anyone else tried running their programs through a post processor for a Haas compared to a Fanuc?

Man 8 seconds is basically a lifetime in CNC time. Waiting that long for a tool change might as well be watching paint dry.

The tool change on a Haas is fast but 8 seconds is actually pretty standard for most modern VMCs, not some crazy record or anything. Post processors for Haas and Fanuc are pretty different though, since Haas uses their own control language that's based on Fanuc but with some weird quirks and missing codes. You'll definitely want a proper post from your CAM reseller instead of trying to hack a Fanuc one, otherwise you'll be fighting with G-code errors all day.

Ngl, hacking a Fanuc post for Haas is a recipe for endless headaches.
