I've been using the wrong feed rate for aluminum on my Tormach for months because the manual's chart was blurry.
I finally ran a test cut at 75% of what I thought was right after a guy at the Tacoma tool show mentioned his chips looked different, and my surface finish is way better now, so what's your go-to method for dialing in feeds on a new material?

Just wing it and let the chips fall where they may, literally. Overthinking feeds is how you waste a whole day.

Right? Sometimes you just gotta trust your gut and move on. Overthinking is a trap that never really pays off.

Wasn't there a time when planning every detail felt like the only smart move? I used to map everything out, but it just made me freeze up. Vera_johnson9 is totally right about how overthinking wastes a whole day... you get stuck in your own head. Now I see that trusting your gut isn't about being careless, it's about getting out of that loop. Letting go of the need for a perfect plan actually helps you move forward.

Pick three solid options and flip a coin. If you're disappointed with the result, you already know which one you really wanted. Saves hours of staring at the screen.
