Overheard a kid call G-code 'boomer language' in the break room
Was grabbing coffee at Penn Machine last Tuesday when one of the new setup guys, maybe 20 years old, said G-code is like boomer language. I've been running Mazaks since 1998, and honestly he's got a point. The older guys in the shop got all wound up about it, but I just told him to see how that CAD to CAM post processor feels when the machine throws a tool offset error at 2am. Anyone else notice the younger crowd learning CAM first and treating manual programming like Latin?

Had a buddy who ran a wire EDM shop for years. Kid straight out of tech school tried to edit a G-code file by hand and crashed a 90k dollar machine because he never learned the basics. Told me that was the day he started learning the 'boomer language' real quick.

That "boomer language" comment got me, cause I've seen the exact same thing happen with CAD software. Nothing humbles you faster than watching a machine wreck itself while the old guys just shake their heads. Bet that kid now knows every line of G-code by heart, which is probably the best 90 grand lesson anyone could get.
