PSA: Our shop's single supplier let us down big time

Last week, our CNC mill's drive motor failed. The only place we buy from had no stock. We waited five days for a new one to ship. Production halted on half our jobs. Do you use multiple suppliers to avoid this?

Ugh, read an article last month saying you always need backup suppliers for this exact reason.

Learned this too when my main supplier ghosted me last year, @ruby_henderson36.

Honestly, articles make it sound so easy. Finding one reliable supplier is hard enough, let alone a quality backup. @kaiw45, you're not alone scrambling. My backup last year sent the wrong materials twice, which set me back further than just waiting on my main guy. Sometimes the plan creates more problems than it solves.

How come we always forget the good advice until it's too late? I read that same article and still ended up with no backup when my main supplier flaked last week. Now I'm scrambling to fix things, and it's all my fault for not planning ahead. You're spot on, @ruby_henderson36, backup suppliers are a lifesaver. Lesson learned the hard way, I guess.
