Dropped $120 on a premium coding course that was just YouTube videos in disguise
I bought this "masterclass" from some influencer last month and it was literally just their free tutorials repackaged with a fancy logo. The code examples didn't even run half the time. Has anyone else gotten burned by an overhyped course?

Was the influencer actually showing their own code working before you bought it?

Actually @joel_clark37 that's a really good point but I don't think people check that kind of thing often enough... I've seen a few big influencer sales where they just talk about their code but never actually show it running from start to finish on their own computer. Usually they'll have some slick demo video that was obviously edited or put together by someone else. If they can't take you through the whole thing live or at least show a raw unedited screen recording then that's a red flag in my book. Not saying everyone's shady but a little proof goes a long way when you're dropping serious money on something.

Nah, I gotta disagree on this one... I've seen plenty of those raw unedited screen recordings and they still ended up being garbage code that barely worked half the time. A guy could show you his whole setup live on stream and still be hiding all the shortcuts and bad practices behind the scenes. I watched this one dev walk through his entire build process step by step, bought his course, and found out later he'd pre-scripted half the stuff to look smoother than it actually was. Proof helps but it's not the guarantee people think it is.
