Honestly thought you needed a college degree to get a coding job

Tbh, I read a report from a tech hiring site that said over 60% of their developers are self-taught. Found it when I was looking up Python tutorials. Anyone else start learning without going back to school?

Wait, that number seems low, right?

What makes you think it's low? I've met tons of people who learned from free online stuff or just messed around with old computers. Look at ellioth37 with his bar napkin notes, that's the real deal. People pick this stuff up in garages and libraries, not just in classrooms. The number probably misses all the folks who never took a formal class but can still code circles around the rest of us.

Guess my bar napkin coding notes count as self-taught then!
