Local library's coding workshop filled up fast. What are other good options for beginners?

I missed the sign-up by a day. Can anyone suggest online tools that are easy to use?

My cousin tried teaching herself with free online videos last year but gave up pretty quick. Maybe some people just need that classroom structure, you know?

Yeah, that's a good point from @lindag33 about classroom structure. When her cousin gave up, was it more about missing set deadlines and a teacher, or was it that the free videos themselves were kind of all over the place and hard to follow?

My first Python course on Coursera lost me in week three because the videos jumped around so much.

I tried freeCodeCamp last winter and got about as far as the second project before my brain felt like scrambled eggs. Laura_schmidt82 has a point about some of us needing that real class to stay on track. Codecademy was a bit easier for me to follow because it feels more like a step-by-step lesson. Honestly half the free stuff online makes me feel lost faster than a dropped garden hose, but those two sites are worth checking out.
