Remember when you had to buy a physical book to learn a language?

Back in 2012, I was at a library in Austin trying to figure out Python from this massive, outdated book. A guy next to me, maybe in his 60s, leaned over and said, 'The book's wrong, they changed the print syntax.' He spent twenty minutes showing me a free online tutorial instead. That small act of kindness completely shifted how I looked for help. What was your first 'aha' moment that came from another person, not a book or video?

My first real help came from a book, actually. That old O'Reilly Perl book saved me when my internet was down for a week. Sometimes a physical reference you can scribble in is the best tool. Videos and forums are great, but a well-written book can explain the why behind the code in a way a quick tutorial often skips.

Honestly, @oscarc12, that's why I still ask people first.

Guess the book was so wrong it needed a human patch.
