Spent 6 hours stuck on a single CSS grid issue last Tuesday

I was trying to get a simple photo gallery to line up in three columns. Kept getting this weird gap between rows no matter what I tried. Looked up Stack Overflow for like 2 hours before realizing I had a stray margin on the images from a previous project. That one little thing broke my entire layout for half a day. Has anyone else had a tiny CSS property wreck hours of work like that?

Oh man, CSS is basically designed to make you feel like a genius one second and a total clown the next. I swear I've spent entire afternoons fighting a single pixel gap that turned out to be a default browser style I forgot to reset. It's almost impressive how one tiny margin can ruin your whole day.

True, but that gap was probably line-height not margin.

Totally. I once hunted a phantom gap for hours and it was just line-height on the container.
