A barista in Portland told me my pour over was too fast and it clicked

I was making my usual morning coffee for about a year, thinking a quick pour was fine. She watched me once and said, 'You're finishing in under two minutes, you're just washing the grounds.' I slowed way down, aiming for a three and a half minute total brew. The difference was huge, way more flavor and less bitterness. I never timed it before, I just poured. Now I use a simple timer on my phone every single time. Anyone else get called out on their brew time and have it actually help?

My pour was so fast I was basically making coffee flavored water... no wonder it tasted weak.

That barista basically gave you a free coffee masterclass.

I always thought latte art was just fluff, but watching her pour changed my mind.
