Bought a $15 hand grinder on clearance and it changed my morning routine

I picked up this cheap ceramic burr grinder at a discount store last Tuesday, just for backup. Used it for the first time yesterday when my electric one died mid-grind. The grind was super uneven, tons of fines and big chunks mixed together. But weird thing is, my usual medium roast tasted fruitier and brighter than ever before. Guess I was so used to uniform grounds I forgot what a little chaos does to the flavor. Has anyone else noticed a rougher grind bringing out something unexpected in their cup?

Noticed the same thing with my old blender too. It's been rattling for years and sometimes leaves chunks in my smoothies but honestly the texture is way better than when it's perfectly smooth. Think life is just like that sometimes. We spend so much time trying to make everything uniform and perfect but the messy stuff often has more character. My favorite songs are usually the ones with a little crackle in the recording or a wrong note here and there. Maybe we need a little chaos to wake up our taste buds and our brains.

Oh man, that really got me thinking. Is it possible we're actually getting BETTER results from our imperfect tools because we have to pay more attention and engage with the process, instead of just pressing a button and zoning out? Like, that rattle in the blender makes you check your pour and feel the vibrations, you know?

Yes exactly! My old coffee grinder sounds like it's about to take flight but the inconsistent grind makes the best cup I've ever had... sometimes I think we're too quick to throw out things that still have some life and quirkiness left in em.
