Cold brew vs iced pour over, no contest for me now
I used to just dump ice in my hot coffee and call it iced coffee for years. Last week I finally tried a proper cold brew with a mason jar and some cheesecloth, let it sit 18 hours. The smoothness was insane, no bitterness at all compared to that watery burnt taste I got from the iced pour over. Has anyone else found cold brew ruins regular iced coffee for them?

The whole cold brew thing hooked me the same way, and it's funny because it reminds me of how we rush everything in life now. We want things fast and easy, like that iced pour over or instant gratification in general, but the stuff that takes a little patience turns out way better. It's the same with bread or even relationships, you know? You let it sit and develop, and you get something smoother and more rewarding, no burnt edges. Slowing down just pays off in the end, even if it means waiting 18 hours for your damn coffee.

Oh the burnt edges thing is actually a little off, cold brew doesn't really get bitter from over extraction like hot coffee does because the cold water extracts differently. But I get what you're saying about the patience part, that part is totally right. There's something about letting things sit and develop that just makes them better, like how a good friendship takes time to really know someone. The waiting is annoying but the payoff is real, even if I still want my coffee right now.
