Hit 500 pounds of coffee roasted last week and it caught me off guard

I started roasting at home about 3 years ago with a popcorn popper, just messing around. Somehow I added it up and realized I've gone through half a ton of green beans. Has anyone else hit a weird milestone that snuck up on them?

Honestly, half a ton sounds like a lot, but is it really that big of a deal? 500 pounds over three years works out to like a pound every two days or so.

Oh man, that math makes it sound easier than it feels in practice! In my case, I thought the same way until I actually tried storing that much extra and realized my freezer and pantry couldn't handle the overflow. Your mileage may vary, but for me it was way more about the space and planning than just the numbers.

@rowan969 has a point about the math being simple on paper. But the real issue nobody talks about is how your eating habits change. You might start eating more of what you stored just because it's there and it's easy. Suddenly that pound every two days turns into two pounds a day because you're grabbing canned soup instead of cooking fresh. Then you run out way before the three year mark and have to start over. It's a cycle that messes up the whole neat calculation.
