I thought single origin beans were just hype until I tried one from Ethiopia

I used to buy whatever bag was on sale at the grocery store near my house in Austin. Then a barista at a local shop in East Austin convinced me to try a Yirgacheffe from Ethiopia for $18 a bag. I noticed the flavor was way fruitier and cleaner than anything I'd had before. Has anyone else had a specific region change how they think about coffee?

Huh, yeah I read something once about how the soil and altitude in Ethiopia makes the beans naturally taste different. Something about the way they process them too, like the natural method where they dry the whole fruit. That Yirgacheffe stuff really is a different animal compared to the dark roast I used to buy. It made me realize most of the cheap stuff is just roasted so dark you can't taste the actual bean.

@allen.kai yeah I caught a video once that said that natural process gives it that almost blueberry taste.

Yeah that makes me feel bad for all the burnt coffee I've been drinking...
