My gooseneck kettle just quit mid-pour during a morning brew
It was a Tuesday, and I was doing my usual pour over for my wife and me when the handle got super hot and the flow stopped completely. I had to finish with a regular pot, which totally messed up the extraction and made a bitter cup. Does anyone have a brand they've used for over a year without issues?

Saw a thread on a coffee forum where people were roasting the Bonavita gooseneck kettles. Multiple users said the switches fail after about 18 months, which lines up with your story. The heat issue you had sounds exactly like a wiring fault inside the handle. My buddy switched to a Hario Buono and has been beating it up for three years with no problems. Seems like the simpler models with fewer electronics last way longer.

Reminds me of my old electric kettle that started making a weird buzzing sound. It was one of those fancy ones with a digital display and keep warm settings. Lasted maybe two years before it just stopped heating one morning. My cheap backup, the kind with just an on/off switch, is still going strong after five years. Makes you wonder if all those extra features are just more things that can break.
