Unpopular opinion: the best home espresso setup I used was a $60 manual lever machine
I was talking to a guy at a shop in Portland last month who swore his $3,000 machine was the only way to get good shots. But my little Flair Neo has pulled better tasting shots for me after just 3 tries dialing in. Has anyone else gone budget and been surprised by the results?

Ha, I can barely get my $60 machine to not spray water everywhere so you're way ahead of me. My espresso game is like my golf swing, all the gear and no idea.

At least your $60 machine still works. I dropped my entry level setup and the portafilter handle broke off. Now I use pliers to lock it in place. Pretty sure the cafe down the street hears me wrestling with it every morning.
