Warning: My espresso machine descaling took 4 hours instead of 30 minutes

Read the manual wrong. Skipped the part about running the solution through the steam wand too. Got halfway through and the machine locked up with an error code. Had to run the whole cycle three times to flush it out proper. Next time I'm just paying the shop $25 to do it for me. Anybody else get tricked by descaling timing?

Four hours?" Did you at least figure out the steam wand thing before the third cycle?

Honestly, this is a lot of drama over cleaning a machine. Four hours? I've descale my espresso machine every few months and it's like an hour tops if I take my time. You read the manual wrong, that's on you not some conspiracy about timing. If $25 saves you from reading instructions, just do that. It's not that deep. Most people can handle a basic cleaning cycle without a meltdown.

I had a buddy who spent a whole Sunday trying to figure out the same thing, he kept pouring vinegar in the wrong port and getting mad at the machine. Honestly @the_wendy is right, there's no conspiracy here, just people skipping the manual and blaming the design. He finally gave up and paid someone $30 to fix it, which was cheaper than his time and sanity.
