Warning: That cheap espresso machine mod cost me a Saturday
Found out the hard way that modifying a $50 De'Longhi with a bottomless portafilter isn't plug and play. Watched a YouTube video last month that made it look easy. Spent 6 hours shaving down the plastic housing inside the group head. Thing still leaked water everywhere. Anybody else try this and end up with a mess?

Honestly six hours on a fifty dollar machine sounds like a choice.

Oh boy, I hear you. Sometimes you just get stuck in a project and before you know it half the day is gone, no matter what the machine is worth. I've definitely been there with some of my older gear.

That "half the day is gone" part really hits home. My buddy once spent a whole Saturday trying to fix a 20 year old sewing machine he found at a garage sale. Finally got it running, but by then his wife had already ordered takeout.
Ever have one of those projects where you just can't walk away from it?
