Caught between my 'buy local' rule and a $200 Home Depot mishap

So I preach to everyone about supporting local hardware stores, right? Then last Saturday my drill died mid-project on a deck rebuild in my backyard. I panicked and ran to Home Depot at 8 PM for a new one because it was the only place open. Now I feel like a total hypocrite even though the local place was closed. Anyone else wrestle with these last-minute choices that undo your values?

Plan ahead and grab a spare drill battery set next time.

Oh man, you're telling me. I've been burned so many times by that exact thing. I swear I buy a new drill and then I'm hunting for the charger in the dark garage like a raccoon in a trash can. Funny how the spare battery set always seems like a brilliant idea after you need it, not before. I guess that's just my special talent for planning.
