Coworker said to stop using semicolons in my technical writing and I fought him on it for a month
Been writing documentation for 4 years and always thought semicolons made me look smart. My coworker Mike told me to just use periods or commas instead because nobody reads that way anymore. I ignored him until my boss pulled me aside and said users were complaining the guides felt clunky. After 2 weeks of rewriting without semicolons, our support tickets dropped by 15%. Has anyone else had to kill a writing habit that felt right but was actually hurting people?
