Helping with the community garden made me rethink my stance
I always thought our neighborhood garden was just a pointless hobby for a few folks. Then I joined in last month to plant some tomatoes, and I saw how happy it made people. It changed my mind about getting involved locally, and now I feel proud we have this spot.

Honestly, seeing people happy for a month doesn't mean much in the long run. In my experience, these gardens can create a lot of work and drama over things like water usage or plot assignments. The real test is if people stick around after the first harvest, when the hard work really starts. Your mileage may vary, but I've seen more burnout than lasting change in these setups.

Wait, you planted tomatoes just last month? That's the part that gets me. Those things take forever to grow from seed. How did seeing people happy change your mind already, when you haven't even gotten to pick a single tomato yet? Seems like you got convinced before your plants even had fruit.

Wondering if you've actually tried growing tomatoes from seed yourself. I mean it's not like they're invisible for months, you see the little sprouts come up fast and watch the true leaves form. That early change is what got me hooked, not waiting for fruit.

My first attempt at seeds was a disaster, I think I overwatered them into a moldy mess. So yeah, I get the whole "invisible for months" thing because mine were just GONE. Now I buy the little starter plants and pretend I'm a gardening genius when they live. It's all about the small wins before you kill something.
