Poured $800 into a cheap storage unit over 18 months

Honestly, I was convinced I'd need all that stuff someday, but after hauling it out I realized it was mostly broken furniture and boxes of old magazines. Lost about $800 in rental fees plus the cost of a dump run to clear it all out. Has anyone else gotten roped into paying for storage way longer than they planned?

Oh man, that stings. I did something similar with a locker full of my ex's stuff after she moved out, ended up paying for two years before I finally admitted she wasn't coming back for it. What finally made you snap and decide to cut your losses and clear it all out?

Honestly linda114 I'm not sure it's that deep, people get so dramatic about storage units like we're talking about abandoned pets or something. You paid for it, you had your reasons at the time, and one day you just got tired of throwing money at it. It's a locker with some junk in it, not a life crisis.

Yeah "one day you just got tired of throwing money at it" sums it up perfectly. I did the same thing with a unit full of old furniture and boxes of books I never even looked at for three years.
