Serious question, my gym buddy said he skips warmups because "they waste 10 minutes" and now I'm bugged
So I'm at the gym on Saturday morning in Cincinnati and my buddy Dave tells me straight up that he hasn't warmed up in like 4 years because he thinks stretching and light sets are a waste of his 45 minute window. I sat there nodding even though my own routine is 10 minutes of bike and light sets before I touch anything heavy. Here's the thing, I've told people warmups prevent injury for years, but I've never actually looked at any proof, I just repeat it. Then I realized I do the same dumb thing with stretching after, I skip it half the time and still act like I care about recovery. So now I'm stuck in this weird spot where my advice to other people is better than what I actually do myself. It bugged me enough that I started reading about it and honestly the studies on injury prevention are messier than I assumed. Dave's been lifting for 8 years with zero issues, so do I keep preaching or just admit I don't know? Curious if anyone here has actually changed their warmup after looking into this.
