Switched from Google Analytics to a simple spreadsheet for my Etsy shop traffic tracking and found out I was obsessing over vanity metrics for 6 months.
Once I compared my actual sales data against the time people spent on my product pages, I realized my bounce rate was high because people were just window shopping not because my photos were bad has anyone else caught themselves chasing the wrong numbers?

Bruh, six months of your life gone to watching people window shop like they're at a mall they can't afford. Real talk though, that's the trap we all fall into. You think high engagement means something until you realize those people are just bored at work clicking around. Your bounce rate was basically telling you your product photos were good enough to make people stop, but not good enough to make them pull out their wallets. At least now you know what numbers actually pay the bills instead of the ones that just look pretty on a dashboard. Consider it a cheap lesson for the price of some spreadsheet time.

Does it really matter that much for a small shop though? You still found out something useful, just not what you expected.

Isn't that the whole point of tracking anything in the first place - learning something, even if it stings a little? Better to know what's not working than guess for another six months.
