Took me 6 months to admit my meal prep system was failing

I kept insisting my Sunday meal prep routine saved time and money, but I was spending 4 hours every week cooking food I didn't even want to eat by Wednesday. Finally tracked it and realized I was throwing away about $30 worth of leftovers each week. Why do we cling to systems that clearly aren't working for us? Has anyone else stuck with a habit way longer than it made sense just because you told yourself it was 'efficient'?

i mean i kinda get what you're saying but honestly meal prep works fine for me. idk maybe it's just how you're doing it or what you're making. i've been prepping on sundays for like two years now and i barely throw anything out. i think people give up too fast and blame the system instead of tweaking it. like maybe swap out recipes or prep less food if you're not eating it all. four hours sounds like a lot though, i only spend like 90 minutes tops.

Threw away so much sad, soggy broccoli and lukewarm chicken myself haha. I did the Sunday scramble for almost a year before I finally admitted I hated eating the same thing four days in a row. It felt so smart and productive until Wednesday hit and I was ordering takeout instead of eating that container of cold rice. Now I just prep ingredients instead of full meals and it's way less pressure. The whole "I'm saving time" lie really keeps you trapped doesn't it.

My friend said the same thing and then found moldy chicken in her fridge after week three.
