Disaster at a comic con signing in Cleveland

I brought my prized Silver Surfer #4 to get signed by the artist, but he accidentally knocked his drink over and it soaked the corner. I panicked but quickly handed him a paper towel and we blotted it dry within 30 seconds - the ink didn't even smear. Anyone else had a close call like that with a valuable book?

Kinda feels like overreacting to a comic book tbh.

Man, that's brutal. I had a similar scare with a Walking Dead #1 at a con in Pittsburgh where a fan bumped into me and my soda went everywhere. You got lucky with the quick save, those instant cleanups are the only thing that kept my book from being ruined.

That's a real shame about the Surfer book, but sounds like you handled it about as well as anyone could. @the_anthony, your Walking Dead story is a good reminder that these things happen to all of us at shows. The key is acting fast and not panicking, which you both did perfectly. I've had a few close calls over the years, but nothing that dramatic, thankfully. A little luck and a quick reaction can save a book in those first few seconds.
