Finally caved and bought the Marvel Unlimited app instead of single issues

After 15 years of buying floppies every Wednesday and running out of storage space in my third short box, the $10 monthly fee convinced me to go digital since I can read the whole 2012 Hawkeye run on my lunch break without worrying about bagging and boarding.

Different strokes for different folks, but I just can't get behind digital for my pull list because half the reason I still read comics is the smell of the paper and the cover art. Plus there's something about flipping through back issues in a long box at a con that you just don't get with a screen. You're basically renting the stories instead of owning them, and when the subscription runs out or the service shuts down, that's it.

Yeah, I get that... there's definitely something permanent about having the physical book in your hands that digital just can't replicate. I feel like with digital you're always one server crash away from losing everything you've collected...

ellioth37 living on borrowed time with that digital collection, praying the cloud doesn't eat their comics. The paper smell and cover art argument is solid though. Nothing like cracking open a back issue that smells like an attic and tastes like a 90s time capsule. You're basically renting digital while physical copies are lifelong tenants.
