How I stopped getting chip crumbs all over my Batman issues
I used to eat chips while reading comics and always got grease and crumbs on the pages. This could hurt the books over time. I found a simple fix by using a small tray for my snacks. Now I put the chips on the tray and eat from it, so my hands stay clean. This lets me snack without messing up my comics during long reads. It works for any messy food like pizza or fries. Try it out to keep your collection safe.

Trays are great for snacks but they don't stop sun damage, that's a separate storage thing. Spencer_coleman's podcast guy was right about acid-free materials for long-term keeping, not for reading. Just don't want anyone thinking a snack tray is a magic shield for everything.

Always thought comics should look lived-in, but your tray idea actually makes a lot of sense. Might have to try that.

Yeah, @henrydixon, I heard a podcast where a collector said trays STOP fingerprints and sun damage. He stored his key issues in acid-free trays and they looked FRESH decades later. The key is using the right materials so the comics don't get damaged over time. Makes sense if you want to keep value high without the lived-in wear.
