I thought my buddy was nuts for buying a $300 graded copy of a random 90s X-Force issue
He kept going on about how it was a 'key' for some new character, and I was just like, dude, it's X-Force #2, it's not even the first appearance of Deadpool. He showed me the CGC slab and the grade, and I shrugged. Then last week, I saw the exact same issue, same grade, sell on an auction site for over $500 because of some rumor about the character appearing in a Disney+ show. I mean, maybe it's just me, but the whole speculation market feels like pure chaos. Has anyone else had a book they thought was worthless suddenly become a thing?

Remember that guy who bought a ton of old New Warriors comics for like a dollar each at a garage sale? He was just into the characters, but then that Speedball rumor started. He sold a near-mint copy of New Warriors #1 for almost eight hundred bucks last month. It's absolutely insane.

My cousin had a long box of old Spider-Man comics he was about to donate. Buried in there was a copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300, but it was pretty beat up. He figured it was worthless because of the condition. Then he saw a post online about how even low-grade copies of that book, because it's the first Venom, were selling fast. He got it cleaned and pressed, sold it for enough to fix his car. The market is totally wild right now, it feels like ANYTHING can pop off overnight.

My buddy found a beat up Hulk 181 in his dad's attic last year.

Man, that's the dream. Just casually finding a grail in a dusty box. I'd probably have a heart attack before I even got it to a shop.
