Met a comic shop owner who changed how I bag my books

I was at Heroes & Villains in Tucson last Saturday and the owner saw me putting my new issues in standard bags. He pulled out a pack of mylar bags and showed me how regular poly bags can mess up cover gloss over 5-10 years. Now I only buy the mylar ones for anything worth over $20. Has anyone else had old poly bags damage their collection?

Mylar bags definitely feel more solid, made a big difference for my key issues.

Made a big difference for my key issues" - my friend tried those and said the SAME thing. @linda_dixon49, her keys kept scratching her phone till she switched to a mylar setup.

Right? That extra stiffness makes such a difference. @uma_williams is totally spot on about the scratching thing too. I switched over a few months back and my phone screen finally stopped looking like a cat used it as a scratching post. The mylar material just holds its shape better so nothing pokes through. Plus they last way longer than the flimsy cloth pouches that wear out in like two weeks. Definitely one of those small changes that saves a lot of headache down the line.
