Rant: The sheer amount of con flyers in my bin shocked me

Comic events need to go paperless to help the earth.

Last Emerald City Comicon I tried their app instead of taking any paper maps or schedules. It had everything I needed, even set alerts for panels I wanted to see. I got lost a lot less because my phone GPS worked with the floor plan. It took one event for me to fully switch over and just delete the app after. More cons should push that option harder at the front doors.

Apps sound good in theory, but @fiona_west21, they rely on a full battery and strong signal, both rare in con crowds. Paper maps work even when the power goes out, and you can scribble notes on them. Pushing apps too hard might ignore attendees who don't own smartphones or prefer analog. A mix of both keeps things accessible for all types of fans.

Remember when my friend's app crashed right before the big panel?

Man, we're halfway to a paperless world and it's so clunky.
