That $150 'grab bag' from my local shop sure taught me a lesson

Back in 2019, before the shop closed down, I dropped $150 on a mystery long box they swore was full of hidden gems. Turns out it was three copies of the same 90s X-Men issue and a bunch of foil covers nobody wants. I did find one beat-up Spectre issue I needed, so maybe $15 of value in there. It burned me enough that I still think about it whenever someone sells a 'surprise box' at a con now. Has anyone else ever gotten a decent haul from those mystery boxes, or are they all just dump bins for dead stock?
