That guy at the comic shop who told me I was reading X-Men wrong
I was at Cosmic Comics in Denver back in March flipping through an old Uncanny X-Men issue. Guy behind me saw me reading it and said I was wasting my time if I didn't start with Giant-Size #1 first. He spent 10 minutes explaining why the Claremont run only makes sense in order. I told him I just like the art and pick up random issues. He looked at me like I kicked his dog. Has anyone else had a stranger tell you how to enjoy your own hobby?

...wait, are you serious? This guy actually hit you with a full 10 minute lecture about reading order for a comic you were just flipping through? I can't believe he had the nerve to stand there and lecture you like you were in a classroom instead of a comic shop having a good time. Like, yeah Claremont's run is great and all, but picking up random issues for the art is a totally legit way to enjoy comics. Some people really need to understand that not everyone treats their hobbies like they're studying for a final exam.

I remember when Cosmic Comics first opened back in 2006, it was a small shop with just a few longboxes. But that guy's been a regular there since day one. I've seen him do this to at least four or five people over the years. He means well, I think, but he forgets that not everyone collects comics the same way he does. Honestly, picking up random issues because you like the art is one of the best parts of the hobby.
