Unpopular take: Watchmen isn't actually that deep
Everyone acts like Watchmen is this genius deconstruction of superheroes but honestly Moore just made a bunch of broken characters and called it deep. Rorschach is no more complex than Punisher if you strip the journal stuff. Am I the only one who thinks people overhype it just to sound smart?

Oh man, it's like when people say a restaurant is "fine dining" because they put a single basil leaf on a plate of pasta. Everyone nods along like they get it but really it's just fancy ramen. Watchmen is the culinary equivalent of paying thirty bucks for a burger because they told you the cow had a name.

I watched a 15-minute YouTube breakdown of the Comedian's button and I still don't know why anyone cares. It's a story about a guy in a suit who cries about being misunderstood while a blue guy makes a squid. Everyone acts like there's some deep lesson about power and morality but really it's just a lot of slow parts with voiceovers. Does anyone honestly think a giant monster attack would make the world stop fighting? That sounds like the kind of plan you come up with after three beers and a bad movie. Why do we pretend this is more than an expensive burger with a side of pretension?

Right, because Ozymandias solving everything with a giant blue squid is peak literature.
