Used to think the 90s X-Men cartoon was overrated until I rewatched it

I spent years making fun of friends who said the old show was peak comic book adaptation. Then last month I sat down and watched the first season straight through on a lazy Sunday. The way they handled the Dark Phoenix arc in just a couple episodes without dragging it out actually impressed me. Has anyone else gone back and changed their mind about an old adaptation they trashed for years?

My buddy Chris used to bash the 90s Spider-Man cartoon constantly. Called it cheap and cheesy compared to the comics. Then his kid got really into Spidey last year and he sat down to watch the whole series with her. He texted me at like 2am one night apologizing for years of trash talk. Said the way they did the Sinister Six setup blew his mind and he never noticed how smart the writing was. Now he owns the DVD box set and watches it without his daughter sometimes.
