Vent: People keep calling my favorite character a villain at the local shop.
He's an anti-hero, not a villain. I've read every issue of his solo run since 2015 and the nuance is right there.

Man, I had the exact same thing happen with my favorite character a couple years ago. It drove me nuts hearing people call him a villain when the whole point of his story was him trying to make up for past mistakes. What finally worked for me was just casually dropping a few specific examples from the comics when the topic came up. Like I'd mention that issue where he saved the kid from the burning building, or the time he turned down a huge score because it would hurt innocent people. @matthewdixon is right that it's not even subtle once you read the whole run, but some folks just see the surface stuff. Once I started saying things like "actually in issue 47 he did this thing that shows he's not all bad," people started listening more. I still get the occasional eye roll, but mostly it stopped the argument before it started.

Wait, they're still doing this? I thought everyone read that 2015 run... it's not even subtle.

That 2015 run was actually 2013, and luna_wright is right, it's the same old debate. Honestly, they just recycle this stuff every few years.
