Just did a harbor inspection in San Diego and the chain lockers were trash
Whoever designed those drain holes must have never tried to flush out silt because everything just cakes up and rusts out in 6 months has anyone else dealt with this on their site?

Have you tried putting in some 1-inch weep holes at the bottom of the chain locker bulkhead? I had the same problem on a few boats down in Gulfport, and we drilled those out so water and silt could actually escape instead of just sitting there. Make sure you seal the edges with some two-part epoxy so rust doesn't start right away. Also, a pressure washer with a narrow tip can blast the silt out if you get to it before it dries hard. It's a pain, but it beats having to chip out all that crusted-up junk every few months.

Silt's a wicked problem for sure... @linda_dixon49 has the right idea about bigger weep holes though, I've seen that fix work on a buddy's trawler down in Charleston. The pressure washer trick works okay but you gotta hit it before it turns into concrete... I've spent whole weekends chipping that dried junk out of a chain locker and it's miserable. Seems like the silt just finds a way no matter what you do.
