My dry suit zipper failed 30 feet down off Port Canaveral last Tuesday

Was doing a hull inspection on a charter boat, about 30 minutes into the dive when I felt that cold trickle down my back. The zipper on my dry suit just gave up, started flooding fast. I called the dive, did a controlled ascent, and got out before things got really bad. Cost me $380 to get a new zipper installed at the shop in Titusville. Has anyone else had a zipper fail without any warning like that, or was mine just overdue for replacement?

That cold trickle is every dry suit diver's nightmare honestly. Once that seal goes, it goes fast, good call on bailing out when you did. Zippers are weird like that, they can look fine one day and just give up the next, especially if the suit sat folded or squished in a gear bag for a while.
