My Kirby Morgan band clamp failed mid-dive last Tuesday in Port Arthur

I was about 40 feet down doing a hull inspection when I felt my mask start to flood. Turned out the band clamp snapped clean where it had been corroded underneath the rubber. Got topside, replaced it with a stainless steel one from the shop. Anyone else had a clamp fail on them like that?

Man, that's a rough way to learn a lesson. The corrosion under the rubber is the part people miss because you can't see it during a normal inspection. Probably worth pulling the boot off and checking the metal on your backup regs too before they go the same way.
