Paid $300 for a custom dive bag that fell apart in two months

I got tired of using a mesh bag from a hardware store so I ordered a custom dry bag from a guy who claimed he made them for offshore divers. First week was great, kept my gear bone dry and had all the right pockets. But after a few deeper dives the stitching on the main zipper started pulling apart. By the end of two months the whole thing was useless, water getting in and the strap broke off while I was climbing a ladder. I tried contacting the guy but he ghosted me after I sent him photos. So yeah, I learned my lesson about trusting small shop sellers without checking reviews first. Anyone else get burned by a pricey piece of dive gear like that?

That line about it falling apart after deeper dives got me. I bought a $250 custom dry bag a few years ago and had the same exact problem with the zipper stitching. What saved me was taking it to a local sail repair shop, they reinforced the zipper with marine grade thread for like $40 and it's held up for three seasons since.

Go get that zipper fixed at a sail repair shop like michaeld48 said. Same thing happened to my $200 bag and a local marine canvas guy fixed it for thirty bucks. Been bulletproof ever since. That seller was just using cheap thread that couldn't handle the pressure changes on real dives.
