Shoutout to the diver in Seattle who pointed out my comms cable routing was a total hazard

I used to think a clean deck meant just coiling the cable, but after seeing how a snag on a valve manifold could yank your mask off at 90 feet, I now always secure the slack to a dedicated D-ring away from any moving parts.

Seattle diver saved you from a real bad day. Bet that valve manifold looked real innocent until it tried to steal your face. Good call on the D-ring.

My backup air came from a tank at 60 feet once, pure panic.

Did you run your own drills after that or just sort of wing it? I had a similar thing happen in a quarry, my tank valve got knocked half closed by a dangling console. Breathing got real hard around 50 feet, took me a second to figure out it wasn't my air just running low. Felt pretty dumb when I reached back and felt the valve was barely open.

Oh man, you're not kidding. Had a regulator first stage let go on me once, just a sudden hiss and a cloud of bubbles. My heart jumped right into my throat. Grabbed my buddy's octo so fast I nearly pulled his mask off.
