That $30 drysuit seal I got off Amazon actually held up underwater

I was super skeptical when my buddy recommended I try those cheap silicone seals off Amazon instead of going with the name brand ones I usually get from the shop in Seattle. After a 60 foot dive inspecting some pilings down in Tacoma harbor last Thursday, the seal didn't leak a drop. Has anyone else had luck with the off brand seals or did I just get lucky?

Brother I have been running those Amazon silicone seals for six months now on my dive rig and they are honestly better than the brand name ones. The name brand seals cost double and fray way faster in my experience. People sleep on the cheap stuff but sometimes the simple silicone works just as good if not better. Did yours have that little plastic pull tab for adjusting the neck tension too?

That plastic pull tab you mentioned isn't for adjusting neck tension. It's actually just a piece of the molding process they don't bother cutting off. I bought one of those sets last month and spent way too long trying to figure out how to use that tab before I realized it's just leftover plastic from the injection mold. The neck tension is set by how you roll the silicone over the ring, not by any little tab. Common mistake, I did the same thing.

Wait so are you saying that little plastic nub is literally just a factory leftover and has ZERO function at all? Because I've seen three different YouTube videos where people claim it's for fine-tuning the tension on the neck seal, and I just bought a six-pack of those generic ones. Did you actually try to pull on it like a tab or did you just notice it was stuck there?
