Got yelled at by a retired IT manager over a loose displayport cable
Guy comes in with his PC, says it won't boot. I check everything, power supply, ram, all fine. Turns out his monitor cable was just half plugged in on the GPU side. He spent 20 minutes cussing me out for wasting his time. Has anyone else had a customer get mad because the fix was too simple?

Could it be that he wasn't upset about the cable, but about losing status as the guy who used to know everything about computers? Getting up there in years and having a younger person solve it in two minutes has to sting.

That part about "getting up there in years" really hit, but here's what i'm wondering. How much of that stung because he actually WANTS to stay current but got caught slippin, versus him just being mad that his whole identity was built on being the neighborhood tech wizard? Like, is he the type who's been coasting on old knowledge for years and got exposed, or is he genuinely trying to keep up and just missed this one thing?
