Just realized most home users buy way too much computer for what they do

I was at a Best Buy in Phoenix last Saturday helping a friend pick out a laptop. She just needs email, web browsing, and Netflix. The salesman kept pushing $1,200 gaming laptops with dedicated graphics. I had to pull him aside and explain she doesn't need a Ryzen 7 for Word documents. Ended up getting her a $400 HP with an i3 and 8GB of RAM. She's been using it for a week and says it's fine. Anyone else run into this problem where salespeople oversell basic users?

Best Buy's commission structure pushes those upsells so hard, grab the $400 HP and ignore the specs.

Read a study that said 90% of home users never use half their laptop's power.

Isn't that just like buying a supersized drink @keith900, you pay for what you never use.
